Georges Hobeika: Ready To Wear Fall/Winter 2016-2017
November 16, 2017
The happy-go-lucky and whimsical, the George Hobeika Fall-Winter 2016-2017 Ready-to-Wear collection echoes the glamorous life of the 50s and its icons that animated so many happy days and wild nights. The bust is victorious and curves are decidedly feminine. This bias of gaiety and rockabilly influence draws contours of crisp skirts bells, voluptuous sleeved dresses, gauzy tunics and combination dresses that gracefully explore the game of overlays and the material effect. The technical inventiveness of workshops, Maison is combined with Couture expertise to masterfully translate the frivolity of this blessed era.
Continuing the timeless wardrobe, a decorative polyphony of multicolored polka dots float beside a winter garden where embroidered flowers sparkle in a constellation of glitter and pearls on dapper patterns that evoke the childish joy of a "girandola per bambini" or with the graphic vertigo of an Op Art drawing. Emphasizing a rich color palette alternates a selection of intense shade, such as burgundy red, deep khaki and outright purple, or some cool tones like gourmand caramel, saffron yellow, pink sorbet and green apple, sometimes veiled in mysterious black lace. Accessories play their part in technicolor to enrich a vibrant stream of satin crepe, Georgette crepe, double crepe, or "gasaar" and lace, which are expressed as gorgeous fabrics that emit the sparkle, energy and ease of the new Cafe Society.
