Balmain’s Spring-Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear Collection was all about provocation -- provoking emotion, sex appeal and the critics. The designer increased the number of looks it featured to 80 from its typical 60. Although Balmain’s signature embroidery was missing, there were other indulgences that made up for it, from sexy cutouts, thigh-high slits and sheer bits that were suggestively placed on the hips of dresses. To complement the rainforest theme, pieces were presented in earth tones of greens and rich clay colors along with snakeskin prints. Other highlights included mini dresses, silk gowns and jumpsuits. During the runway show, a broad range of styles were showcased, showing that there likely was something for everyone in the collection.
