Spring/Summer 2019 Fashion Trends

Spring is finally upon us. As the days grow longer and the weather gets warmer, it’s time to spruce up your wardrobe with bold new trends and fun and flirty ensembles.  Flower power in all its glory is being showcased in everything from dresses and blouses to skirts and accessories as designers reach back in time and draw inspiration from the funky designs of the 1960s.

While runways lit up with beautiful and bright neon-colored pieces, the all-white combination was featured in countless collections and has proven to be one of the hottest new trends this season.  Bold stripes and geometric patterns adorned garments, and designers fully embraced the spring mood by incorporating iridescent fabrics into their creations.  This season, bomber jackets and pencil skirts are also back with a twist to spice things up.  Read on for details of all these fantastic new fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2019 as well as tips and tricks on how to wear them in ways that will have you stepping out in style this season.

FLORALS
This season is all about flower power, drawing inspiration from both ‘60s hippy styles as well as floral decorative fashions.  From floral patchwork bathing suits to floor-length floral gowns to wreath-style necklaces, flowers were in full bloom on the Spring/Summer 2019 runways.  The options are endless, so make the most of this über-feminine and ultra-girlie style to flaunt your feminine side.  Floral-print, belted dresses are a fun and flirty way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe, as are floral-print, silk blouses.  Although floral denim is also a big hit this season, don’t blow this month’s paycheck by investing too much in a pair, as this is a trend that likely isn’t here to stay.  If you do opt for a pair, team them up with colored jackets, cardigans and tops for an on-trend, sweet and feminine look.

WHITE
You will be happy to know that another one of the biggest trends is something most of us already have in our wardrobes.  White has made a comeback and will be a staple this spring and summer.  From accessories to shirts, skirts and dresses, white creations add a fresh, crisp feel to Spring/Summer collections.  Before you rush to the mall, whip out all of the white garments you have in your wardrobe.  Take advantage of what you already have by reinventing your separates to create the all-white look. Go all-out with a completely white outfit, which will take you effortlessly from day to night.  Layer on fluid silhouettes for a draped effect or keep it clean with crisp separates. Whether you experiment with delicate lace or pleats for a more feminine look or go for a straighter, more elegant silhouette, the choices are endless!

STRIPES
Whether horizontal, vertical or diagonal, stripes made their debut on Spring/Summer runways from designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Jacquemus and Gabriela Hearst.  Exuding an instant summery feel, statement stripe pieces were inspired by everything from beach umbrellas to candy canes. While black and white stripes are classic, adding gold to the mix will spice things up.  If you are feeling a little more adventurous, forgo the classic black and white combination and opt for cherry, navy and green stripes this season.  Those who want to take this trend that extra step can draw inspiration from Oscar de la Renta, who added a twist with stripes in varying thickness.

CROPPED
When it comes to Spring/Summer 2019, it’s time to think short!  Cropped jackets, tops and trousers are the way to go!  Those of us who have avoided hitting the gym all winter long by using the weather as an excuse to nurse a few extra pounds will be happy to hear that the bare midriff has taken a twist this season by showing just a hint of the stomach.  A high-waisted pencil skirt paired with a crop top will have you looking sophisticated while showing just a little skin for that peek-a-boo effect.  While crop tops wouldn’t be the first piece to come to mind when it comes to evening wear, pairing a sparkly crop top with a maxi skirt will give you an on-trend look that will effortlessly take you from day to night.  Don’t forget your pedicure ladies because cropped trousers allow you to be on-trend and show off your gorgeous sandals and strappy shoes.  This trend is most flattering for those with thin ankles, but be sure to choose a straight-cut rather than a wider style to ensure that your legs look longer and slimmer.

NEON
Bright colors are a must this summer so embrace the season by bringing a pop of electric neon color into your wardrobe. The bright, jewel-toned hues range from hot pink and electric blue to multiple shades of yellow, green and orange. From dresses to shoes, handbags and nails, everything is going neon. There are monochrome pieces and color-blocked ones, as well as boldly printed colorful designs. The key to pulling off this trend is to avoid wearing multiple neon pieces at the same time. Try electric blue or loud lemon with a sheer blouse for a delicate effect or team neons with white to make a dramatic impact. Embrace this trend by going tone-on-tone with structural separates.  Whichever color you prefer, you will have the chance to experiment with eye-popping shades that shimmer in the light and complement that healthy summer glow for a fresh and fun look.

PRINT
What would spring and summer be without beautiful dresses and accessories in nature-inspired prints and lush colors? When it comes to print virtually anything goes, from the simple to the wild, with bold, colorful prints featured on everything from dresses and skirts to pants and accessories. Those who are daring can incorporate two trends in one piece by selecting a print dress in neon for a totally on-trend look. Ladylike and demure or sexy and sophisticated, you can’t go wrong with a print dress for a summer daytime or a glamorous evening look.
